Refund Policy:

More than ten days before class: refund minus $12.50 administrative fee. There are no refunds less than ten days before class. In the event a class is cancelled you will be fully refunded or have the choice of class credit towards a future class.

 

Class exchanges are allowed when requested a minimum of three business days before class. The class exchange fee is $12.50.

There are no class exchanges allowed fewer than three business days before class, or after the class has been held. This policy allows us to register people who may be on the waitlist for a class, and to schedule our instructors accordingly.

Adobe Photoshop Creative Cloud is here! I would like to invite everyone to an exciting series of classes exploring the new features inside this latest release of Photoshop. CC packs of magnitude of new features aimed at the digital photographer.

Adobe Photoshop Launch Pad: Photoshop 1

 

Learn the basics of editing digital images with Adobe Photoshop in this three-hour intensive workshop for beginning digital photographers. This is the first workshop in the Photoshop for Photographers series, and we'll get you up to speed in no time. Learn these basics:

• A clear explanation of the new Photoshop CS 6 interface.

• Learn how Adobe Bridge and Photoshop were designed to work together.

• How to efficently process multiple files using the batch processing tools.

• Understand resolution, files formats, cropping and white balance.

• Working with third party plug-ins and filters from Nik Software and Alien Skin.

• Demonstration of panorama, focus stacking and HDR capabilities in Photoshop.

• Improve raw processing and noise reduction with Camera Raw 7.

Photoshop for Photographers 2: Selections and Layer Masks

 

In order to harness the power of Photoshop's advanced editing features, you need to learn the skills necessary for creating precise selections, and layer masks. This class gets you up to speed quickly through hands on projects demonstrating pro level selection techniques. You will learn how to create multi-layered files then resize, transform and alter individual layers.

• Learn how to isolate and refine a single area in an image.
• Learn how to remove and replace elements in an image.

• Working with Quick Mask and the Quick Selection tool.

• Master the new Refine Edge tool for the truely difficult selections.

• Harness the power of layer masks for precise blending and composites.

• Create blended exposure and psuedo HDR effects from multiple images.

Photoshop for Photographers 3: Adjustment Layers and Retouching

 

Adjustment layers are the heart and soul of a professional Photoshop workflow. This class will delve deep in the strategies for using adjustment layers in a nondestructive workflow. We'll cover common retouching problems for portrait, landscape, and editorial photography. This is the class that will launch your career as a Photoshop Jedi Knight.

• Master Adjustment layers for precise tonal and color correction.

• The amazing Content Aware Patch tool, retouching will never be the same.

• Non-destructive editing with the Adjustment Brush in Camera Raw.

• Best strategies for working with the Clone Stamp and Healing Brush.

Adobe Lightroom 5 Intensive: Two Day Class

 

Part 1: The first day covers the Library, Slideshow and Web modules. You will learn how to design a logical file structure, build an efficient backup system, create an easy-to-use naming structure, and use “metadata” to simplify tracking images from program to program. Integrate image management into your workflow using Adobe Lightroom 5 software and learn how to implement an advanced keyword system for tracking the content of your images.

 

Leverage the power of virtual Collections to organize your images. We will also cover the Slideshow and Web modules in greater detail, including the use of custom templates for unique and powerful automatic web design. Learn how to set up a web server to post your images online for personal or client review.

 

Part 2 : The second day covers the Raw conversion and editing tools and Print module. We focus on maximizing the quality of your images in the Develop module, with a detailed explanation of each tool set, including the new selective control with the Adjustment brush. Learn how to set-up batch processing, round-trip editing of images from Lightroom into Adobe Photoshop CC, and working with virtual copies of your original files.

Advanced Lightroom 5 Workflow - Start to Finish

 

Due to popular demand, we have created a followup to our Complete Lightroom 5 workshops. The most commonly asked question we receive is, "can you show me the best way to process a large shoot?" Well, that is exactly what this class provides. You will learn a logical and efficient workflow that takes you from the downloading process, to exporting finished files for client review, burning to DVD, or archiving on your backup system.

 

During this 3 hour class you will learn the best practices for: comparing, sorting, rating, keywords, editing, building logical collections, creating useful presets, and much more. This class brings it all together in a simple step-by-step process that will boost your productivity and leverage the true power of Lightroom.

The Digital SLR and Camera Raw Field Workshop

 

Take control of your digital SLR (single lens reflex) camera. After a review of basic camera functions and controls, we'll concentrate on getting the most from your digital SLR, including Raw file formats and specialized settings. We’ll explore the amazing photographic subjects at the Japanese Tea Garden and Golden Gate Park . We will focus on custom white balance and advanced camera features, and everyone will have opportunities to work one-on-one with the instructor.

 

• How to select the correct shooting mode for every scene

Intro to Digital Photography Workshop

 

This class is perfect for the beginning digital photographer. During the course of the workshop you will learn how to set all the basic controls on your camera, as well as understanding the important menu items and shooting modes available. We'll focus on strategies for improving your photography, including how to achieve perfect color, how to capture the decisive moment, and how to improve the quality of your photographs.

 

The class meets at Ft. Point in the Presido of San Franacisco, an amazing Civil War era brick masterpiece. The variety of subjects from abstract to scenic, will inspire the creative artist in you and offers an opportunity to develop your photographic eye.

Golden Gate Park Workshop - Composition and Shooting Skills

 

Master advanced features of your digital SLR camera in the beautiful setting of Golden Gate Park. Locations to be determined but likely will include the Conservatory of Flowers, Japanese Garden, and/or Strybing Arboretum. Class size strictly limited so that you have time to work one on one with the instructor.

 

Explore dynamic lighting techniques including use of portable strobes. Learn to use the manual settings on your digital SLR camera. How to use macro lenses and how to create dramatic depth of field. Learn proper use of exposure compensation. Explore High Dynamic Range (HDR) techniques using bracketed exposures.

Digital Printing Master Class

 

This class goes far beyond just demonstrating how to set up your printer. Each participant will actually print one of their own images using the state of the art Epson 7900 printer. We cover how to manage your images from original capture to final output. We focus on printing from Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom to achieve screen-to-print color match, including the proper Photoshop color settings, converting profiles, and soft proofing.

 

• How to install and use custom profiles
• Acheive the best possible screen-to-print color match
• Explore different archival printing papers
• How to correct printing problems with Adjustment Layers
• Optomize images with proper sharpening techniques

Portrait Lighting Essentials

 

Todays options for portrait lighting offer flexibility and creative solutions for the digital photographer. This class covers both traditional studio lighting techniques using ProPhoto studio gear and all aspects of the Nikon & Canon TTL systems, including the built-in Commander modes of supported cameras. You will learn the basics of how light works, how to modify it and with what tools.
