Refund Policy:

More than ten days before class: refund minus $12.50 administrative fee. There are no refunds less than ten days before class. In the event a class is cancelled you will be fully refunded or have the choice of class credit towards a future class.

 

Class exchanges are allowed when requested a minimum of three business days before class. The class exchange fee is $12.50.

There are no class exchanges allowed fewer than three business days before class, or after the class has been held. This policy allows us to register people who may be on the waitlist for a class, and to schedule our instructors accordingly.

Whether you are new to Adobe Photoshop, or would like to refresh your skills, this three-hour class will demonstrate the creative possibilities of this essential tool for the digital photographer. Participants learn best practices for using the editing tools and techniques needed to create compelling and dynamic images. Whether using the latest Creative Cloud release, or working with legacy Creative Suite versions, this class will help you develop a efficient and polished workflow. Learn these basics:

  • Experience the new Adobe Photoshop CC interface.
  • Learn the basic concepts and techniques of editing and using layers to enhance your images.

Amazing Black and White: From Edit to Print

 

Optimal Black & White Conversion

 

A three-hour intensive workshop in mastering the basics of digital black and white photography. Learn how to capture your images for optimal results focusing on the basics of contrast, shape and form. Explore the best tools and techniques for converting an image to black and white using Adobe software, including a demonstration of the Silver Efex Pro plug-in for both Photoshop and Lightroom. Learn how to expand the dynamic range of your image and enhance both highlights and shadows with selective curves and levels.

 

Superior Black & White Prints

 

The second half of this class focuses on printing. Using the techniques presented in the class, you will create a superb black-and-white file using one of your own images. Next, you will print your image on the classroom Epson 9900 printer. Each participant will take home at least one stunning archival print from this workshop. We will have ample time to discuss all the variables of the black and white printing process, including the use of specialized RIP software and custom black and white profiles and printer settings.

Beyond the Single Image: Panorama, High Dynamic Range &
Multi-Image Composites

 

Are you ready to move beyond a single image and explore the world of multi-image composites, panoramic images, high dynamic range images, and focus stacking? Then this is the class for you. We will explore multiple avenues for expanding the creative digital image making process, and embrace the world of computational photography. With Photoshop, you have almost unlimited power to express your artistic vision. This class will guide you from the initial planning stages of a shoot, through the necessary technical steps to create the best possible final images. We will explore such topics as layer masks, texture blending, and creative colorization.

 

This workshop uses Photoshop Creative Cloud 2015, but CS 5/6 will also work. You are encouraged to bring your own images to edit during the workshop, but sample images will be provided as well. Here are some of the topics that will be covered:

 

  • Learn how to create realistic high dynamic range imagery, and prevent overprocessed, unnatural looking HDR.
  • Combine images with multiple selective focus points to dramatically expand the depth of field in your photographs.
  • Expand your horizons incredible panorama stitching in Photoshop. Plus, use the Adaptive Wide Angle tool to straighten distortion in panoramas or wide-angle lenses.
  • Create engaging multi-image composites. Learn how to  combine images together using layer masks, blending modes, and selective transparency.
  • Master adjustment layers for precise tonal and color correction.

Part 1: The first day covers the Library, Slideshow and Web modules. You will learn how to design a logical file structure, build an efficient backup system, create an easy-to-use naming structure, and use “metadata” to simplify tracking images from program to program. Integrate image management into your workflow using Adobe Lightroom 5 software and learn how to implement an advanced keyword system for tracking the content of your images.

 

Leverage the power of virtual Collections to organize your images. We will also cover the Slideshow and Web modules in greater detail, including the use of custom templates for unique and powerful automatic web design. Learn how to set up a web server to post your images online for personal or client review.

Digital Printing Master Class

 

This class goes far beyond just demonstrating how to set up your printer. Each participant will actually print one of their own images using the state of the art Epson 9900 printer. We cover how to manage your images from original capture to final output. We focus on printing from Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom to achieve screen-to-print color match, including the proper Photoshop color settings, converting profiles, and soft proofing.
